Technology journalist Andy Ihnatko (of the Chicago Sun-Times, TWIT, and
The Ihnatko
Almanac) joins The Bad Cop and DarrylW4 for a discussion about recovering
electronic devices after getting wet. Andy tested several technique
in his article "Salvage Techniques for Wet Electronics"
including use of Fresh Step Crystals and the specialize The Dry &
Store device. In that discussion we mentioned comments on
Google+ by Adorfer about recovering his gear dunked while "...walking in high
waders inside a former factory for aggricultural fertilizers in the
basement of the sulfur storage...."
We started with news that Cachesense for
Android now supports Munzees, then followed up with a call from
Superted (also featured on "CAM
Ep. 162: Superted"). Listener Tom suggested through Google+ the
use of a device like the Portable Picture & Data Backup Hard Drive
while quadsinthemudd (soon to be featured on Cache-A-Maniacs Connections) offered some thoughts
including use of Contour Maps for Garmin GPS (also note that The
Bad Cop misspoke while reading his comments - the Oregon 300
supports 2,000 geocaches, not 200).
The live video session from this Google+ Hangout On Air can be
