He's probably best known for GPSBabel (the software behind many tools including GSAK and Google Earth), but is also one of the eight cachers who can boast that he's attended all nine of the Geowoodstock. He started caching with the Magellan Map 330. He now uses the Garmin Oregon 450t and the Magellan eXplorist 710. He dreams of caching in Australia. He also talked about the "MayDay" (GC1BMC7). A favorite book is "The Driver: My Dangerous Pursuit of Speed and Truth in the Outlaw Racing World."

He started his caching with the Garmin nüvi 200 before moving to a Garmin Colorado 400t. That was replaced by a Garmin Oregon 550t. For paperless caching he uses the Apple iPhone and the Oregon. He dreams of caching in Australia and Hawaii. He recommends trying Rhode Island for caching trips. He's also tried playing Gowalla, Munzee, and Waymarking.
