The Bad Cop and DarrylW4 gab without any guest for the forty-third beta show, the sixth Randomized edition. They started with a topic submitted by Brightblades about finding containers in good hiding spots. During a conversation about Siri's odd pronunciation of "Geocaching" they talked about The Travel Bugs and their song "To Whom It May Concern." They talked about using QR Codes to simplify logging of trackables and caches. Of course the new iPad mini was discussed as a geocaching tool. As were reports by Android Central on 32GB 3G Nexus 7 pricing, the Verge on the manual for the unannounced Nexus 10, and SKUs for the unannounced Nexus 4. They also talked about the release of the Microsoft Surface and its possibility of being used for geocaching.
This week only one contributor was entered into the holiday giveaways. Thanks to Magellan, listeners all over the world have the chance to win an eXplorist GC. Brand 44 Colorado was also kind enough to provide a Geomate.jr with Update Kit, Geomate Large Log Cache, and a Geomate Gnome Cache for those within North America. Along with those four awesome gifts, the hosts of the GeoGearHeads will be pitching in a few items themselves to be given away through a drawing on Episode Beta.48 (November 29, 2012) (details available here).

We're joined by jeepin_idaho of the 4x4 Podcast to talk about gear for Geocachers and their Off-Highway Vehicles. He a couple of posts -- "Goal Zero Guide 10 Plus Adventure Kit" and "Ram Mount for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Installation" -- from his podcast site. Some of the products he suggested were the dual battery kits, gravity water filters, Reliance Aqua-Tainer, Chuck Box, Fun Treks guides, and EveryTrail.
We heard from TheWinterTrio again about using the GPSR for Munzees. We talked a little about that and the three GSAK macros for bringing in Munzees; "MyMunzeesCSV," "MyMunzeesV3CSV," and "WGETmunzeecaps."
Perhaps the most interesting mention in this episode was about a new set of giveaways we kicked off as of this recording. Thanks to Magellan, listeners all over the world have the chance to win an eXplorist GC. Brand 44 Colorado was also kind enough to provide a Geomate.jr with Update Kit, Geomate Large Log Cache, and a Geomate Gnome Cache for those within North America. Technology journalist Andy Ihnatko (of the Chicago Sun-Times, TWIT, and The Ihnatko Almanac) joins The Bad Cop and DarrylW4 for a discussion about recovering electronic devices after getting wet. Andy tested several technique in his article "Salvage Techniques for Wet Electronics" including use of Fresh Step Crystals and the specialize The Dry & Store device. In that discussion we mentioned comments on Google+ by Adorfer about recovering his gear dunked while "...walking in high waders inside a former factory for aggricultural fertilizers in the basement of the sulfur storage...."
We started with news that Cachesense for Android now supports Munzees, then followed up with a call from Superted (also featured on "CAM Ep. 162: Superted"). Listener Tom suggested through Google+ the use of a device like the Portable Picture & Data Backup Hard Drive while quadsinthemudd (soon to be featured on Cache-A-Maniacs Connections) offered some thoughts including use of Contour Maps for Garmin GPS (also note that The Bad Cop misspoke while reading his comments - the Oregon 300 supports 2,000 geocaches, not 200).
